It doesn't feel much different is South California, actually it has been much warmer lately.
However I am coming out of hiding and excited to break out some of my Fall clothing, and spend some more time here on Coffee and Combat Boots.

Desert days

Living in Los Angeles, the desert is sort of a go to escape for me.
106 degree weather though makes me pack very light every time.

This Sheinside romper made for the perfect light weight bathing suit cover up.
Paired with my ASOS floppy hat and a pair of gladiator sandals, I am ready to enjoy this hot paradise.

Coffee Shop Chronicles Nashville Edition

Nashville being my old home, is one of my favorite coffee shop cities.
On my short trip I drank an unreasonable amount of coffee, to fit in all of my favorites
Barista Parlor is definitely on the top of the charts.

Right in the heart of hip east Nashville is this treasure of a coffee shop.
The assortment of local goods, and classic favorites like Stumptown and Intelligentsia are a perfect combination. Add to the equation the plenty of seating, perfect industrial decor, and the southern hospitality of the barista's and you can't resist falling in love for Barista Parlor.

Tip for the meat eaters out there: If you're hungry be sure to try the Southern Frenchman. House-made buttermilk biscuit, Willow Farms eggs, swiss cheese, Porter Road Butcher ham, smoked-hot paprika, and house made jam. My boyfriend shed tears of joy after the first bite.

Comfy Monday

My style since moving to the beach has gotten a lot more casual.
My heels have made their way to the back of the closet,
and I'm starting to love dressing down as much as dressing up.

Nothing says laid back like a pair of overalls.
These Urban Outfitters overalls are perfect for my casual walk to the farmers market days.

Notice the red, white, and blue? It's almost the 4th of July!
This girl is headed to Nashville to celebrate, and I couldn't be more excited.
I left Nashville almost two years ago to move to California, but it will always feel like home.
I have a feeling there will be a fun a few fun Nashville Coffee shop and exploring post in the future.

Impromptu Day Trip

The best thing about Los angeles is there are a million day trip opportunities.
Life gets bland if you sit still. I think day trips are necessary for the soul.

Yesterday was an unexpected day off for me and the mister, so it was the perfect day to jump in the car and go. We ended up in a Santa Barbara. It was a wonderful little day. We walked, shopped, talked, put our feet in the sand, and oh of course some good vegan food.

Playa Provisions

This weeks coffee shop is brand new. Playa Provisions is located right off the beach in Playa Del Rey. Playa Provisions is the ultimate one stop shop. The entire place is covered in adorable details. The front section is a sit where you'd like espresso bar with pastries and unbeatable homemade ice-cream. Equipped with an outdoor fire place, and adorable details everywhere you look. If you are up for more than just an espresso or sweet treat visit their whiskey bar, cafe, or Dockside the wonderful seafood section of Playa Provisions. Told you it was a one stop shop. A view of the beach makes this one of my all time favorite places.

Coffee Shop Chronicles

I'm not a coffee snob. I'm not a former Starbucks employee who can make any espresso drink, or your local hip coffee shop barista who can taste the region of every drink and go on about it for hours. In fact, I usually like my coffee with ice or too much almond milk, but coffee shop culture is my absolute favorite. It's the bar of the day. It's a place to meet up with a friend and catch up, study/work, make a new friend, or escape life in a good book. A town's coffee shop really shows a lot about a town. Throw in an americano, and you have everything I could ever ask for. I love an excuse to try a new coffee shop, and I'm excited to introduce you to all the best ones. Let's start with my local go to Primo Passo Coffee Co.
"For the discerning coffee lover" This hip little coffee shop on Montana Ave is one of my favorites. Adorable minimalistic decor, cute mugs, and amazing espressso. The perfect place to grab an iced americano, sit outside, and people watch the many different lifestyles of Santa Monica.

Nice to Meet You!

Welcome to Coffee and Combat Boots. I'm Heather. I'm a well planned out free spirit. I'm an oxymoron. I'm easy to please. I just want to do fun things, go neat places, wear pretty things, and drink too much coffee. I think the world is a beautiful place and this blog is a look at it through my eyes.
